The Flash: Michael Keaton Officially Confirmed to Return as Batman
Michael Keaton's return as Batman in Warner Bros. and DC Films' The Flash is officially confirmed after the actor recently cast doubt on his reprisal.
After a brief period of doubt, it's now been confirmed that Michael Keaton will reprise his role as Batman in Warner Bros. and DC Films' The Flash.
According to The Wrap, Keaton's return was confirmed by the actor's talent agency, ICM Partners.
In June 2020, it was announced that Keaton's Batman would appear in The Flash, which will lean heavily into the concept of the multiverse. However, Keaton himself cast doubt on this in March 2021, saying, "I’m really into work right now. I don’t know why, but I am, and so, yeah, I mean, you know, to tell you the truth, somewhere on my iPad is an iteration of the whole Flash thing that I haven’t had time yet. I called them and said, I have to be honest with you. I can’t look at anything right now. I’m so deep into this thing I’m doing. Also, I’m prepping a thing I’m producing and getting ready to do down the road in the fall that I’ll be in, and I feel responsible to that. So, yeah, there is that. I’m not being cute or coy. If I talked about it, I’ll be just bullsh*tting you. I don’t really know. I have to look at the last draft."
Of course, Keaton won't be the only Batman in The Flash, as Ben Affleck will be suiting up as the Dark Knight in what's expected to be his final DC Extended Universe film.
Directed by Andy Muschietti from a script by Christina Hodson, The Flash stars Ezra Miller, Michael Keaton, Ben Affleck, Sasha Calle, Kiersey Clemons, Ron Livingston, Maribel Verdú, Saroise-Monica Jackson and Rudy Mancuso. The film arrives in theaters Nov. 4, 2022.
