Currently, Rick and Morty Season 8 is holding a perfect score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. This number may fall as more episodes and reviews are added during the season, but it's nevertheless a tremendous start for Season 8. It's up significantly from Season 7's score of 77%, which is the lowest of the series. Previous seasons had consistently performed strongly with critics. Season 1 has a near-perfect score of 97%, followed by Season 2 at 91%; Season 3 at 96%; Season 4 at 96%; Season 5 at 86%; and Season 6 at 91%.
"Rick and Morty Season 8 continues what the series does best, letting the main characters' exciting dynamic shine with the backdrop of wild adventures," Screen Rant reviewer Felipe Rangel said of the new season.
Cheryl Eddy of io9.com added, "These stories may follow the classic Rick and Morty escalation plot structure, but they’re also stuffed full of what makes the show so reliably enjoyable: vivid animation, clever writing, bizarre tangents, and outrageous body horror."
"Rick and Morty Season 8 delivers more comedic, absurd adventures that will satisfy any fan," Collider critic Jasneet Singh also said.
Rick and Morty Continues On With Season 8
Season 8 is the second season that features new voice actors taking on the titular roles. Series co-creator Justin Roiland, who voiced both Rick and Morty, was let go from the show by Adult Swim amid controversy. Ian Cardoni and Harry Belden later came on board to voice Rick and Morty, starting with Season 7. There were concerns at the time that the change in voice actors may push away some fans, and the drop in its Rotten Tomatoes rating for Season 7 could have been seen as concerning. Getting back up to a 100% with Season 8, however, would seemingly suggest that Rick and Morty is back on track with the majority of critics and fans having since moved on.
The series also features the voices of Chris Parnell, Spencer Grammer, and Sarah Chalke. It was co-created by Roiland and Dan Harmon.

New episodes of Rick and Morty premiere on Adult Swim on Sunday nights. The entire 10-episode season will be made available for streaming on HBO Max in September. For those enjoying the show, new seasons are guaranteed, as the show was renewed through Season 12 last year.
