The long-running sci-fi epic Doctor Who is returning in a major new multimedia event titled Doctor Who: Circuit Breaker. The event will expand across comics, novels, audio dramas, and games, giving fans a fresh way to explore the Doctor’s universe.

The event begins with Doctor Who: Circuit Breaker #1 – Adversary of the Daleks, a new comic published by Titan Comics. The story focuses on the Doctor’s first encounter with the Daleks, one of the most iconic villains in the franchise.

According to Titan Comics, Adversary of the Daleks follows the Doctor as she arrives in Thessaloniki in Ancient Greece, where she discovers that even the gods are afraid of strange visitors from across the universe.

The issue is written by Dan Watters and Dulce M. Montoya, with artwork by Roberta Ingranata, Sami Kivelä, and Valentina Bianconi. The comic will also feature several variant covers, including artwork by Jay Anacleto and Robert Sienicki, along with a photo variant and a “color your own” variant cover.

The Fugitive Doctor, played on-screen by Jo Martin, takes center stage in the new comic. First introduced in 2020, the Fugitive Doctor became a major part of modern Doctor Who lore after her connection to the Thirteenth Doctor raised new questions about the Doctor’s forgotten past. The character is also historic as the first on-screen Black incarnation of the Time Lord.

The Daleks remain among the most famous villains in Doctor Who history. Known for their armored shells, mechanical voices, and chilling battle cry, the Daleks are mutated creatures encased inside powerful metal machines. They have been a central threat to the Doctor for decades.

Since its debut in 1963, Doctor Who has become one of science fiction’s most enduring franchises. The series has produced hundreds of episodes across multiple eras, while also expanding into books, comics, games, audio dramas, and crossover stories.

The Doctor’s ability to regenerate has helped the franchise remain fresh across generations. Unlike many long-running heroes, the Doctor can change faces, personalities, and story directions while still remaining the same essential character. That flexibility has allowed Doctor Who to keep evolving without being tied to one actor or one version of the role.

The Doctor has also crossed over with other major franchises in comic books. One of the most memorable examples came in 2012, when the Eleventh Doctor teamed up with Captain Picard from Star Trek: The Next Generation in a crossover published by IDW Publishing.

With Circuit Breaker, Titan Comics is leaning into the full scope of the Doctor Who universe. By connecting comics with other forms of storytelling, the event gives fans a chance to see familiar characters, classic villains, and new adventures from a different angle.

Doctor Who: Circuit Breaker #1 – Adversary of the Daleks will be available July 8 wherever comic books are sold.
