Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio are set to star in Karate Kid: Legends later this month, and a new clip from the movie shows the two meeting in the film and discussing the beloved Mr. Miyagi.

The exclusive clip was shared by Fandango on X (formerly Twitter) and starts out with Mr. Han (Chan) looking for Daniel LaRusso (Macchio). The two bond for a moment before Daniel confesses he isn't at a point in his life where he can pack up and head to New York to join Mr. Han in a martial arts tournament. In a heartfelt moment, Mr. Han explains to Daniel that the young boy he is mentoring, Li Fong (Ben Wang), means to him what Daniel meant to Mr. Miyagi. Karate Kid: Legends is set to hit theaters on May 30.

"I'll see you in the Big Apple," Mr. Han says to Daniel on his way out. While Daniel professes that he can't possibly join in on the tournament in New York, it seems likely that he'll make the trip sooner or later. Karate Kid: Legends is the sixth film in the franchise, and it will be set after the events of the Cobra Kai TV series, which Macchio also starred in.

In Karate Kid: Legends, the young Li Fong moves to New York City with his mother after a family tragedy and begins to re-learn martial arts so that he can enter a tournament -- despite being a kung fu prodigy. The film introduces Ben Wang as the new main lead, with Joshua Jackson, Sadie Stanley and Ming-Na Wen also starring.

The new Karate Kid film picks up after the last episode of Cobra Kai, which aired its series finale earlier this year on Netflix. The series is a direct sequel to the original four Karate Kidfilms, turning its focus onto Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka)'s journeys 30 years after the first film. At the end of the series, Johnny and Daniel begin working together with their students as senseis, training them in Cobra Kai and Miyagi-Do, perfectly setting up Mr. Han's arrival to ask Daniel for help.

Ralph Macchio Remembers Mr. Miyagi's Actor Ahead of Karate Kid: Legends

With Karate Kid: Legends, the franchise is shifting its focus to a new star, with Ben Wang's character of Li Fong in the spotlight under the tutelage of Chan's Mr. Han. This leaves Ralph Macchio's Daniel to take on a new role, one that's very similar to his character's former sensei, Mr. Miyagi. The actor who portrayed Mr. Miyagi, Pat Morita, died in 2005, and Macchio believes his Karate Kid: Legends role pays tribute to the late actor.

"I think he would’ve been first in line and bought popcorn for everybody. I really do," Macchio shared. "I enjoy honoring those who are no longer with us that helped create this franchise, and I feel, I guess I would say a responsibility, but I take pride in making sure, or at least letting my voice be heard, of the importance of that in honor of them. I’d like to believe he’d be proud of me for that part."

Karate Kid: Legends premieres in theaters on May 30.
