The success of the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise has seen Gunpla model kits sold in several stores, including basic convenience stores. Now, a limited-edition model kit decked out in a major store chain's color is certain to "take it to eleven" for fans.

Exclusive to Japanese 7-Eleven stores, a new "Gunpla-kun" model kit combines the brand's iconic color scheme with a super-deformed take on the RX-78-2. Loaded with the expected accessories and weapons, it's one of several Gundam items being launched for the store. This includes special merchandise that also ties into the latest Gundam anime.

Gundam Is 'Always Open' With Exclusive New 7-Eleven Gunpla-kun

The new Mobile Suit Gundam x 7-Eleven collaboration begins on May 8, 2025, with the series of goods featuring various items tied to the mecha anime franchise's history. These include food clips, sheets, stands, pins, notebooks and themed boxes meant to hold the convenience store's heated food. Many are derived from the classic Universal Century timeline and its anime, with this continuity beginning back in 1979 with the original Mobile Suit Gundam. Also present are items based on newer entries, such as Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury and the latest anime, Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX. These items can be items with certain purchases, with more info on them being specified on May 8.

Perhaps the coolest item of the bunch, however, is the new 7-Eleven version of the Gunpla-kun RX-78-2 figurine. This 1:1 Gunpla model kit is a super-deformed version of the classic RX-78-2, and this time around, it's cast in the green, red and orange color scheme of 7-Eleven. This includes a big "7" on the robot's chest, making the branding even more obvious. In terms of accessories, it has parts for a Beam Saber, a Beam Rifle and a shield, just like the previous release. This unique Gundam kit will cost customers 880 yen (~US$7), keeping it affordable and allowing fans to also snack out on tasty 7-Eleven cuisine. The Gunpla kit can be found in 7-Eleven stores across Japan, but sadly, there's no word on if or when it will be brought to other regions. Gundam GQuuuuuuX model kits and figures will also be sold there from May until the end of October 2025.
