Marvel's Spider-Man 2 premiered a new trailer during the latest PlayStation showcase, revealing Kraven the Hunter and more.
The extended gameplay revealed Kraven hunting in the jungle. It takes viewers six months after to show the gameplay, debuting Peter's new black Venom suit and some of Kraven's allies. Later, the gameplay shows Miles Morales tracking down Dr. Connors, aka Lizard. In ten minutes of gameplay, the pair of clips showcased new moves with the Symbiote suit and an extended chase with Lizard in a river. The gameplay ended with confirmation that Marvel's Spider-Man 2 launches in Fall 2023.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Adds Candyman's Tony Todd as Venom
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 premiered its first trailer in September 2021, revealing Candymanand horror-icon Tony Todd as the voice of Venom. Most of the trailer incorporates a voiceover from an unknown actor, describing his search for an "equal. One who could push me. One who could surprise me. One who could even beat me. Yet all I found was disappointment." Many fans speculated that it was the voice of Kraven the Hunter, a long-time foe of Spider-Man and one many have long wanted to see.
When Does Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Come Out?
Todd's casting led to the actor receiving countless questions from fans on social media. In March 2023, Todd seemingly confirmed that Marvel's Spider-Man 2's release date was set for sometime in September. After a fan contacted him on Twitter asking about news of a launch date, Todd told him, "Looks like September! Massive publicity coming in [A]ugust. Commercials start dropping in [A]ugust so I'm told. Hold on to your ... and hold breath! Gonna be necessary."
A month later, industry insider and Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier confirmed Todd's estimation for the release window. When asked why Warner Bros. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League might have been pushed back to February 2024, Schreier noted that Sony's plans to launch Marvel's Spider-Man 2 in September 2023 could play into the decision. This also follows rumors going back many months that indicated Sony's intention to release Marvel's Spider-Man 2 in the fall of 2023. However, no exact release month or confirmation of a window had been announced officially.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Continues Peter and Miles' Journey
The upcoming sequel continues Peter Parker and Miles Morales' partnership as they work together to fight crime. After Miles developed his spider powers in the first game, Peter took him under his wing as his protegee. This led to the spinoff, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, which saw the titular character take center stage. Despite the inclusion of the two as protagonists in the second game, reports indicate that there won't be a multiplayer option.
