Hop aboard the Hogwarts Express because the Harry Potter TV series has just unveiled the first look at the iconic vehicle. This time, longtime fans will love it.

HBO's Harry Potter reboot has not been without controversy so far. From complaining about the casting to wondering what the point is, and pointing out the similarities to the iconic film series, the Harry Potter project is not off to a great start. However, this tiny detail will likely bring people joy because the new Hogwarts Express is extremely similar to the original.

The iconic vehicle was spotted as it was being transported to set, and it looks very similar to the original, albeit with some small changes. The plate is different, and it was also upside down. The original Hogwarts Express had the numbers "5972" on the front, but it's unclear whether the upcoming series will pick up on the same detail.

However, it features the same type of locomotive, even though it's not the same one as the one displayed at Warner Bros.' Harry Potter Studio Tour in London, where the TV show is also filming. The original train on display features a different car for every film, with mockups of the characters.

Late last month, original Harry Potter director Chris Columbus weighed in on the series, and denounced the similarities. "I’m seeing these photographs... and he’s wearing the exact same costume that we designed for Hagrid. Part of me was like: What’s the point?' "

"I thought the costumes and everything was going to be different, but it's more of the same," he continued. "It's all going to be the same."

The original director explained, "It's very flattering for me, because I'm like, that's exactly the Hagrid costume that we designed. So, part of it is really exciting, so I'm excited to see what they're going to do with it. Part of it is sort of deja vu all over again."

HBO's Harry Potter Show Will Feature Many New Moments

However, the upcoming Harry Potter series will bring its fair share of novelties. One of them includes some characters that were part of the book, but not the eight films. Charlie Weasley, who was mentioned in the films but never made an appearance, has been teased to be a part of the new reboot. Professor Cuthbert Binns will also join the rest of the professors. The new TV series will also be set in the early '90s, following the timeline of the books, and its outfits and hairstyles reflect that era.

New recent leaks from the set in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire, have just teased a series of scenes being shot in the early 1980s, and feature a key scene from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone prologue, where Dedalus Diggle runs into Vernon Dursley, played by Daniel Rigby. The scene is part of the prologue in the books, but didn't make it to the big screen. Although some of the early leaks only tease at some early parts, most of the magic will take place inside, once they start filming at Hogwarts.
