On The  Show Grey DeLisle American voice actress and singer-songwriter. DeLisle is known for various roles in animated productions and video games. On September 27, 2018, she released her debut comedy act, titled "My First Comedy Special". On November 10, 2019, The Simpsons producers announced that DeLisle would replace Russi Taylor as the voice of Martin Prince and Sherri and Terri, after Taylor's death in July 2019. In 2022, she was nominated for the Children's and Family Emmy Award for Outstanding Voice Performance in an Animated Program for her work on The Loud House.

For over a decade, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has dominated the superhero space with its inventive format, replicating that of the source material. The MCU's various achievements spawned other franchises to emulate its formula. Out of all the franchises able to compete with the MCU, DC remains at the top, as it also has a catalog of comic book characters that have operated in a connected universe. After the DC Extended Universe failed to give audiences the same enjoyment as the MCU, the new DCU will mark Warner Bros.' second attempt to find lasting success.

One of the crowning achievements of the MCU has been its ability to bring many aspects of the source material to the screen. At one point, it was a major turning point when the MCU finally explored space with Guardians of the Galaxy, or when Doctor Strange introduced magic. Like the comics, the MCU has become a franchise where anything is possible, and it has worked to its benefit, as it opens up the possibilities for the stories Marvel Studios can tell. Nonetheless, there is another significant element from the source material that the MCU has also adopted, which has hurt it.

There aren't many comic book characters who have remained dead, and that classic trope has made its way into the MCU plenty of times. Loki is the character who quickly comes to mind, since he seemingly met his fate in Avengers: Infinity War, only for him to go on and receive his own spin-off series a few years later. Thanos is another character who shockingly died at the start of Avengers: Endgame, only to return later on in the film.

While all of these character returns unfold in different ways, they still lessen the stakes of the universe in a major way. As powerful as superheroes can be, the idea of death is something that adds real emotion to the stories, no matter how fantastical they are. The MCU isn't trying to emulate the real world, yet the concept of permanent death is still something that should ground these mythic characters, as it only makes their acts of heroism that much more inspiring.

Donkey Kong Hasn't had a 3D Adventure Game in Years

The only other major Donkey Kong-specific games afterward were Donkey Kong Country Returns and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. Both of these were the same side-scrolling style as the original Super Nintendo games. Tropical Freeze was released on the Wii U in 2014, with new versions releasing in 2018 on the Nintendo Switch. Since the Switch version isn't technically a new game, it will have been 11 years between the last majorDonkey Kong release and the release of Donkey Kong Bananza. It seems they were preparing for a major overhaul, as that's exactly what the new game is doing based on the reveals so far.

New Game

The recent Nintendo Direct for Donkey Kong Bananza was filled with surprises. One thing that was already seen in the initial reveal is the apparent redesign of Donkey Kong's face. He looks a little younger and more carefree than the Donkey Kong fans have been used to since the original Donkey Kong Country. This might be explained by the fact that Pauline was also revealed to be in the game.

In the new footage, a much younger version of Pauline breaks out of a rock and immediately wants to start singing. Super Mario Odyssey has an adult version of Pauline who also sings and is the mayor of New Donk City, and while these could just be references, it feels like the titles might be connected in some way.

Donkey Kong looks a bit younger, Pauline is much younger, and she sings in both games. Plus, the city she's mayor of is named New Donk City, a strange coincidence considering Donkey Kong only appears as an 8-bit boss fight reference to the original game in Super Mario Odyssey. It also wouldn't make sense to name the city after her previous kidnapper, unless, of course, he was actually a trusted friend.
