A new day has brought with it another Nintendo Switch 2 leak, this time revealing the pricing of the much-anticipated console. It appears as though retailers have received more information about the console and are prepping for pre-orders.

Another supposed leak regarding the details of the Nintendo Switch 2 has surfaced, giving some insight into what customers can expect to pay upon launch. Switch2Stock recently posted an unverified rumor to X revealing the console's price, estimated cost for games, and when pre-orders will open. The post contains screenshots from a discord server where user DoNotDisturb relayed information from a supposed French video game retailer Micromania employee.

Consensus Regarding the Cost of the Switch 2's Games Has Been Reached

But the Console's Price Remains Up For Debate

In the Discord post, the employee confirmed the Nintendo Switch 2's launch price, saying, “Hi, I can confirm that all the prices we see on the net are wrong. I work at Micromania; we received the prices: the console will be €399”. If the €399 ($406) launch price is to be believed, it will mean that the console will cost $100 more than its predecessor.

This price also comes into contention with a previous estimate of CAD400 ($277) claimed by noted leaker Average Lucia Fanatic, placing it $23 below the original Switch’s launch price. However, exchange rates and product pricing are not directly comparable, and factors such as trade agreements, tariffs, taxes, and logistics will mean that the console's price will fluctuate from region to region.

The employee claimed that Micromania had received a provisional list of launch games but did not elaborate further on which games make up that list. Another French leaker and competitive Super Smash Bros. player, Bouboune0, revealed a list of games that included Tekken 8, Red Dead Redemption 2 and an upcoming FIFA title.

Bouboune0 used European Article Numbers (EAN), a product’s standard barcode, and cross-referenced them with previous ones used by gaming companies. The Micromania employee has also claimed that games will cost between €69 ($70) and €79 ($80). This prediction aligns with Bouboune0’s previous leak, which estimated the retail cost at the same price point.

Additionally, the employee relayed that Micromania is gearing up for the console’s launch, saying, “I can just tell you that everything is ready for pre-orders”. He added that a limited edition console will include one of Nintendo’s first-party games. A previous leak claimed that Nintendo would reveal the console as early as Jan. 17; however, on Jan. 1, the Game Awards gave an announcement window of anywhere between January and March of this year.

The reveal date may come sooner than later. Japanese third-party accessory maker Genki told French publication Numerama that the Switch 2 mold they exhibited at CES 2025 was created from actual hardware circulating among manufacturers. The company was then allegedly visited by Nintendo’s lawyers.
