Alien: Earth has been successfully expanding on the lore of the iconic sci-fi horror franchise. However, Sigourney Weaver, star of the original 1979 Ridley Scott film, reveals that she hasn't been able to watch it alone.
In an interview with Collider, Weaver revealed that despite really enjoying and admiring the series, she was too scared to watch it on her own. The actor jokingly said that she only watches it alongside her husband. "I'm watching it like a real person," she said. "I have to make a date with my husband because I don't want to see it by myself in case one of those things comes out of the screen. So we have to set it up. So I'm behind seeing it, but the ones I've seen are fascinating."
Created by Noah Hawley, Alien: Earth is the Alien franchise's first television series and takes place two years before the events of the 1979 film. The series follows the "hybrid," Wendy (Sydney Chandler), and a group of soldiers facing off against a new threat to the planet. So far, Alien: Earth has been met with glowing reviews, and currently has a 95%rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes and 72% from audiences.
The series has been praised heavily for expanding upon the Alien lore and introducing new threats. The series revisits and recontextualizes pre-existing elements of the franchise, including the mythos surrounding the Xenomorph. Alien: Earth features additional performances from Timothy Olyphant, Alex Lawther, Samuel Blenkin, Essie Davis, Adarsh Gourav, Babou Ceesay, Erana James, Lily Newmark, Jonathan Ajayi, David Rysdahl, Diêm Camille, Moe Bar-El, and Adrian Edmondson.
Weaver Highly Recommends The Series

Despite being a bit scared watching it, the FX series still has the iconic actor's seal of approval. "What I admire about it is it's not Alien-centric," Weaver said. "It is about what world we will be living in 100 years. I think the scope of it is so much bigger than an Alien project."
"Fascinating. Much more about our world, what's going to be happening to it, what's going to be important, the role of greed," Weaver added. "It's just exploded some of the themes that have always been part of the Alien series, and I think it's beautifully cast and beautifully done. I can't believe it's television, frankly."
Alien: Earth is available to stream on FX on Hulu with new episodes dropping every Tuesday.
