The search for the next James Bond may have a surprising new frontrunner.
According to Page Six, actor Jack Barton is reportedly at the top of the list to take over as 007 in the upcoming Bond 26reboot.
Barton is competing against several better-known names, including Jacob Elordi, Harris Dickinson, Paul Mescal, Jack Lowden and Callum Turner.
But being less famous could actually work in Barton’s favor.
The actor has appeared in Heartstopper, Poor Things, and SAS: Rogue Heroes — the latter created by Bond 26screenwriter Steven Knight.
Former Bond casting director Debbie McWilliams has previously said the next 007 should remain something of a mystery to audiences, making a lesser-known actor an intriguing choice.
The next Bond film will be directed by Denis Villeneuve, with Knight writing the screenplay.
No casting decision has been officially announced, but right now, Jack Barton may be the name to watch in the race to become the next James Bond.
