Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the biggest open-world games of all time, and its mere existence is a feat that Rockstar will only be able to top with this November's release of Grand Theft Auto VI. It's so massive that, for the entirety of its existence, the idea of porting the Western blockbuster to mobile has sounded ridiculous. And yet, that's exactly what's happening.

A faithful mobile port of Red Dead Redemption is officially available now. The sequel to Red Dead Redemption first released in 2018 on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, later being ported to Windows and Stadia, and every Rockstar fan was sure that the future of the series would be on more advanced hardware, not more limited technology.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Is Officially Available On Mobile Devices

Of course, it isn't as if Rockstar spent their own resources on the development of this new, wildly ambitious port. Rather, the YouTube channel RGB Tech Official has simply shown gamers what equipment they need, and what they need to do with it, in order to get Red Dead Redemption 2 to successfully run on mobile devices.

In their video, RGB Tech Official shows off what their custom mobile port of Red Dead Redemption 2 looks like, and its visuals are more gorgeous than anyone would have guessed. To pull off this feat, however, it required the use of a SnapDragon 8 Elite Gen 4 Android, the GameHub PC Emulator, v5.3.5L with the latest Turnip versions, the installation of additional components, the adjustment of various settings, and the use of custom drivers.

Porting Red Dead Redemption 2 on your own will also require that you own a PC copy of the game. Of course, with the revolutionary Western title having sold 82 million copies, making it the fifth-highest selling game of all time, it's very likely that most interested parties already do.

To be sure, getting Red Dead Redemption 2 to work on mobile devices will take a great deal of time and effort, but the results speak for themselves. For fans still enjoying the game and all of its rich content eight years after its release, this is definitely a worthwhile way of mixing things up.

It's certainly worth a try for fans waiting for more Red Dead Redemption, as it's unlikely any new major releases are on the horizon. With Rockstar's attention fully on Grand Theft Auto VI, it could still be several years before gamers see Red Dead Redemption 2 ported to modern consoles, let alone an announcement for Red Dead Redemption 3.
