One of Thor’s Worst Enemies Officially Has His Sights Set on All of Asgard

Latest Your Nerd Side with Fonseca:

One of the most dangerous villains Thor has ever faced is about to become Asgard's biggest problem.

While the titular hero of Immortal Thor #15 and his allies are busy facing off against the might of both Zeus and Nyx, similarly ominous forces are conspiring against the gods elsewhere. As it turns out, Roxxon's Doctor Lamarr has been toiling away secretly on a project that could change everything for the company's malicious CEO. Doctor Lamarr's machine comes to life with the flick of a switch and a single human sacrifice. Once its work is done, Dario Agger can step forth from it in a whole new body and with a whole new mission.

Introduced back in 2014's Thor: God of Thunder #19.NOW by writer Jason Aaron and artist Esad Ribić, Dario Agger spent his childhood living an easy life along with his wealthy parents. Tragically, Dario would lose his family at a young age to pirates, with the young boy's life only being spared thanks to the miraculous intervention of the gods themselves. In the years that followed, Dario dedicated himself to not just keeping his family's memories alive, but to amass as much wealth and power as possible to never fall victim again, no matter who he has to hurt to ensure as much.

Eventually, Dario became the CEO of Roxxon Energy Corp, through which he caused immeasurable harm to the environment in the name of corporate greed and personal profit. This brought the villainous CEO into conflict with Thor, who wasted no time destroying several Roxxon factories, kicking off a deep-seated rivalry between them. Dario made it his mission to oversee the destruction of environments and communities Thor loved. However, this was ultimately his undoing when their battles forced Agger to reveal his true form as a monstrous minotaur.

In recent years, Dario Agger has returned to prominence with a new plot to terrorize the God of Thunder. With his near limitless wealth and resources, Agger purchased the Marvel Universe's own Marvel Comics, and with the Enchantress Amora's magic, effectively rewrote Thor's entire reality. This gave rise to Roxxon's own corporate-sponsored Asgardian, who was soon revealed to be little more than the monstrous Keep created years ago by the Enchantress. Despite defeating this false Thor, the real God of Thunder still hasn't contended with Roxxon in any major way thanks to the ongoing threat of the Utgard Gods who have haunted him since the beginning of Marvel's Immortal Thor.
