Loki Executive Producer Hopes Thor and Loki Meet Again in the MCU

Latest Your Nerd Side Show:

Loki executive producer Kevin Wright recently revealed if there are plans for Tom Hiddleston's God of Mischief to rejoin the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe.

"That’s the hope," Wright admitted to Variety. "I don’t want to — yeah. I think the sun shining on Loki and Thor once again has always been the priority of the story we’re telling. But for that meeting to really be fulfilling, we have to get Loki to a certain place emotionally. I think that’s been the goal of these two seasons."

Loki Follows a Variant of the God of Mischief

Hiddleston has been playing Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2011. The original timeline version of the fan-favorite God of Mischief first appeared in Thor (2011), with Hiddleston reprising the role in Marvel’s The Avengers (2012), Thor: The Dark World (2013), Thor: Ragnarok (2017) and Avengers: Infinity War (2018). The original Loki died at the hands of Thanos at the beginning of Infinity War, leaving a devastated Thor with no more family members.

Avengers: Endgame (2019) introduced an alternate timeline version of Loki from Marvel's The Avengers, who escaped custody with the Tesseract after the Avengers went back and messed with time to reacquire the Infinity Stones. This scene teed up the character's self-titled Disney+ series, which premiered on Disney+ in June 2021. Created by Michael Waldron, LokiSeason 1 follows the Endgame variant of Loki as he works alongside the Time Variance Authority (TVA) to stop the sacred timeline from being broken.

Loki Season 2 Synopsis

“The next season picks up in the aftermath of the shocking season finale when Loki finds himself in a battle for the soul of the Time Variance Authority,” reads the official Season 2 synopsis. “Along with Mobius, Hunter B-15, and a team of new and returning characters, Loki navigates an ever-expanding and increasingly dangerous Multiverse in search of Sylvie, Judge Renslayer, Miss Minutes, and the truth of what it means to possess free will and glorious purpose.”

Besides Hiddleston, Loki Season 2 stars Owen Wilson as Mobius M. Mobius, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Ravonna Renslayer, Eugene Cordero as Casey/Hunter K-5E, Tara Strong as Miss Minutes, Sophia Di Martino as Sylvie and Wunmi Mosaku as Hunter B-15 with Ke Huy Quan joining the cast as Ouroboros, a TVA agent who works in its repairs and advancement department.

The first season of Loki is available to stream on Disney+ or own on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray. Loki Season 2 premieres on Disney+ on Oct. 5.
