HBO's Harry Potter Reboot Set Photos Show Harry and Hagrid in a Magical Leaky Cauldron Scene

HBO'sHarry Potterreboot started filming in mid-July, andfilming is underway. The cast and crew have reached one of the most iconic scenes.

Per Collider, the most recent set photos show Nick Frost's Hagrid taking Dominic McLaughlin's Harry Potter in London to the Leaky Cauldron. The scene is early in the books, as Hagrid takes Harry shopping for his school supplies before starting the year at Hogwarts on Sept. 1.

In the set photos, Frost is not a part of the filming, but his body double has a mask with the actor's face. The set photos give a glimpse of what to expect from the series, and one of the things that stand out is the outfits. The Harry Potter book series is set in the early '90s, and Harry starts at Hogwarts in 1991. The series ends in 1998, with the Battle of Hogwarts on May 2. The photos confirm the major change from the films.

The photos give the best glimpse at the cast so far, especially McLaughlin's Harry. The young actor is wearing era-appropriate clothes, and his hair is slightly more ruffled than Daniel Radcliffe's in the first year, and closer to book Harry. His scar is slightly visible. His clothes are also worn and very big, in line with the character wearing hand-me-downs from Dudley.

The first look at Nick Frost's Hagrid was unveiled shortly after filming started, and it features Hagrid's rugged look, with a long, scruffy beard, and unkept brown hair. Although the events are supposed to take place in July, both of them have jackets on. As Harry and Hagrid made their way to the Leaky Cauldron, which leads to Diagon Alley, the place to buy his school supplies, the characters look book-appropriate, something the new series is said to prioritize.

Who Else Stars in Harry Potter?

Dominic McLaughlin will play the titular character, with Arabella Stanton taking on the role of Hermione, and Alastair Stout as Ron. Among the adult characters, aside from Frost as Hagrid, John Lithgow plays Professor Albus Dumbledore, followed by series regulars Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, and Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape. Appearing in recurring roles will be Luke Thallon as Professor Quirrell and Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch. Sherlock's Louise Brealey as Madam Rolanda Hooch, and Andor's Anton Lesser as Garrick Ollivander.

The other characters include FBI: International's Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Amos Kitson, Bel Powley, and Daniel Rigby will play Dudley, Petunia, and Vernon Dursley, respectively, Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley, Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil, Sienna Moosah as Lavender Brown, and Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan. Harry Potter Season 1 will also feature two characters that weren't a part of the first novel, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, nor the first film, Johnny Flynn as Lucius Malfoy and Bertie Carve as Prime Minister Cornelius Fudge. Voldemort has also been reportedly cast, but the crew intends to keep the casting under wraps until the show premieres.
