At this point in the cycle of rampant speculation, rumors and reports of who will or will not make an appearance in upcoming MCU films, it’s impossible to know who might be daring enough to tell the truth versus who is devilish enough to toy with fans’ emotions. That said, it’s time to let the star of Daredeviland Daredevil: Born Again on Disney+ give it a shot.
Charlie Cox, a.k.a. Matthew Murdock in the series, the blind superhero that protects Hell’s Kitchen against all comers, and Kingpin himself, Wilson Fisk, was the latest of a list of actors asked if his character will make their way to an MCU film soon — more specifically Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Based on his response, don’t count on it happening. Cox shut down any idea that ties Daredevil to Tom Holland and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, speaking to Brandon Davis during 2025 New York Comic-Con. Taking a less colorful route than Matthew Garfield, star of The Amazing Spider-Man franchise, Cox was just as unequivocal.
Hmm ... Spidey Sense Is Tingling

One thing Marvel has proven to be exceptional at is keeping its cards close to its vest, so much so that you’d swear there aren’t any cards at all. From compartmentalizing who knows what, and who doesn’t, as far as the bigger picture goes, to non-disclosure agreements that prohibit actors from revealing information to not only the public, but to anyone at all, including close friends and loved ones.
Does that mean Cox isn’t being honest? Not at all. And, to be fair to Daredevil, he has a better track record of honesty regarding MCU films than, say, does Garfield. Still, there is never any way to be sure until the movie hits theaters, which is ultimately something that works in Marvel’s favor as well: keeping the world guessing and, as a result, discussing them daily; but the payoff is often worth it in one way or another. Also remember, Murdock is an attorney, so he definitely knows how to work a room.
Daredevil: Born Again is currently streaming on Disney+, and Season 2 will arrive in March 2026.
