Book of Boba Fett's Temuera Morrison Open to Playing Captain Rex and Other Clones
The Book of Boba Fett's Temuera Morrison is willing to add more characters to his Star Wars filmography in the form of clone troopers.
In an interview with The Washington Post, Morrison listed out some of the more famous clones in both the Star Wars films and animated series. "Well, there are people -- I'm thinking of Captain Rex for one. He looks a little like me," Morrison said. "There's Commander Cody. What happened to those guys? There's all those clone armies. That could be something fresh and new and exciting."
Morrison first appeared in Star Wars in 2002's Attack of the Clones as the bounty hunter Jango Fett. He was the genetic template for the army of clones that the Kaminoans were creating, seemingly at the request of the Jedi Order. The cloning techniques meant that each clone aged far faster than normal but they all retained Jango's physical features. Boba Fett was also a clone of Jango, but an unaltered one with a normal aging process that Jango took as his son. Boba last appeared in canon in The Return of the Jedi before making a surprise return in Season 2 of The Mandalorian, where he was played by Morrison.
Clones of Jango, such as Captain Rex and Commander Cody, have been seen in other media, most notably in the animated shows The Clone Wars, Rebelsand The Bad Batch, where they were all voiced by Dee Bradley Baker. With actors Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen returning for Obi-Wan Kenobi, Rosario Dawsoncast as a live-action Ahsoka Tano and Morrison back in the fold and willing to play some clones, the chances of a live-action Clone Wars movie may not be out of the question.
Morrison can currently be seen on Disney+ in the leading role in The Book of Boba Fett. Before the series started, Morrison promised that fans would receive some answers about Boba's past, saying there would be "Some long-winded answers. Some short and sharp answers. Some colorful answers. We're filling a lot of gaps."
The show explores Fett's adventures following his fall into the Sarlacc Pit and his rise to power as he attempts to take Jabba the Hutt's former territory for himself.
New episodes of The Book of Boba Fett drop every Wednesday on Disney+.
