Wednesday Season 1 presented a love triangle between the title character, Xavier (Percy Hynes White) and Tyler (Hunter Doohan). However, Xavier is no longer featured in Wednesday.
After hearing an announcement that he had left for a different school, Wednesday received a message from him that reads, “I tried texting, but I guess you lost the phone I gave you. Consider this my goodbye gift. The image suddenly flashed in my head. Don’t ask me how I know or what it means, but it’s connected to you, I’m sure. Who’s Wednesday Addams without a mystery to solve, right?” The "this" is a painting of a one-eyed raven on a headstone.
Speaking to TVLine, showrunner Alfred Gough confirmed that “we have seen the last of" Xavier. He won't be returning for any cameos in the future. While Gough didn't confirm it some fans think this may be linked to the fact that Hynes White has been the subject of some serious allegations over the past few years. On the social media platform X, he was accused of sexual assault in a since-deleted message, and also of saying a racial slur in a since-deleted video.
Hynes White denies the claims. He posted on his Instagram Stories in June 2023, "The rumors are false," he wrote, per Variety. "I can’t accept the portrayal of me as someone bigoted, or criminally negligent of people’s safety. These are the kind of baseless, harmful claims that can create mistrust toward victims."
Jenna Ortega Didn't Like The Love Triangle

Jenna Ortega has always been outspoken about the Wednesday scripts, and she made it clear during an episode of Armchair Expert With Dax Shepard that she didn't like the love triangle. "Everything that she does, everything that I had to play, did not make sense for her character at all," she declared. "Her being in a love triangle made no sense."
Things are different this time around - especially since Ortega is an executive producer on this new season. There's no love triangle, but Tyler is still a potential love interest for Wednesday. “Wednesday went down the path of romance sort of reluctantly in Season 1, and she paid the price for that, so she’s closing the door on that avenue of her adolescence for the time being. But when she gets together with Tyler, sparks always fly," Gough told TVLine.
He went on, “There’s something unspoken between them. We love to see them together and to explore that dynamic. Both [Doohan] and Jenna play it so brilliantly, and there’s a lot that’s unsaid in those scenes.”
Wednesday Season 2, Part 1 is streaming on Netflix now.
