The Boys finale has fans fired up — and honestly, that might be putting it lightly.

After Season 5 ended with Homelander completely stripped of power, dignity, and that god complex he carried for years, the internet had a lot to say. But showrunner Eric Kripke is standing by the ending.
Kripke says the backlash was loud, even rough to read, but he doesn’t regret it. His goal was never to turn The Boys into some giant post-apocalyptic superhero war. He wanted the series to remain a twisted reflection of our own world — especially its slide toward power, fear, and fascism.
And Homelander? Kripke says the point was always clear: beneath all that power, he was never a god. He was an insecure narcissist.
