Though it's still several months before Stranger Things' fifth and final season, the hit Netflixseries has already set another major record. Following the show's latest reveal at Tudum, Stranger Things Season 5 is already setting new records for Netflix on social media.
Per Variety, Netflix's release date announcement video for Stranger Things Season 5 -- made at the annual Tudum event on May 31 in Los Angeles -- generated over 250 million impressions across all its social media channels within the first four days. According to the streaming giant, that is the most impressions for any announcement video in Netflix history over that time span.
The overwhemingly positive reaction to the Stranger Things Season 5 announcement is the latest of several records the show has accrued over the years. Season 4 was the most-watched English-language show in Netflix history, before it was surpassed by the Jenna Ortega-led horror series, Wednesday. Season 4 is currently the third-most watched English-language series on the streamer, having recently been overtaken by the limited series Adolescence.
Fans will get bitesize portions of Stranger Things to keep the excitement levels high for the final season. Season 5's eight episodes will be split into three parts, with the first four episodes premiering on Nov. 26, 2025. The next three drop on Christmas Day (Dec. 25), and the series finale helps round out 2025 on Dec. 31. The most recent trailer for Season 5 was released along with the announcement video, playing up the high stakes in the '80s-set horror sci-fi drama.
Stranger Things Season 5 Promises to Be an Epic Conclusion
The official Stranger Things Season 5 synopsis reads: “The fall of 1987. Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna. But he has vanished -- his whereabouts and plans unknown. Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding.
"As the anniversary of Will’s disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread. The final battle is looming -- and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they’ve faced before. To end this nightmare, they’ll need everyone -- the full party -- standing together, one last time.”
David Harbour returns as Hawkins police chief Jim Hopper, alongside Winona Ryder (who plays Joyce Byers), Millie Bobby Brown (as Eleven/Jane Hopper), Finn Wolfhard (playing Mike Wheeler), Caleb McLaughlin (as Lucas Sinclair) and Gaten Matazzarro (portraying Dustin Henderson).
The final stretch of Stranger Things has proven to be an emotional one for all involved, with some actors revealing tear-jerking reactions to making the last episodes. However, the cast will see the finished Season 5 when the public does. Brown recently confirmed that Netflix isn't allowing the actors to screen episodes in advance.
Stranger Things Season 5 premieres via Netflix on Nov. 26, 2025.
