Netflix Lands the Entire Walking Dead Universe in Reported $500 Million Deal

Netflix is becoming a major global destination for The Walking Dead.

Netflix and AMC Global Media have announced a five-year agreement reportedly worth $500 million that will bring the complete Walking Dead television franchise to Netflix beginning in 2027.

The deal gives Netflix and AMC+ co-exclusive worldwide streaming rights. That means the franchise’s shows will be available on both services, but not on competing streaming platforms.

Seven Walking Dead Shows Are Coming to Netflix

The agreement covers all 11 seasons of AMC’s original The Walking Dead series, along with its six television spinoffs:

• Fear the Walking Dead

• The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon

• The Walking Dead: Dead City

• The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live

• The Walking Dead: World Beyond

• Tales of the Walking Dead

Altogether, the collection includes 371 episodes of zombie-filled, post-apocalyptic television.

The shows will not arrive on Netflix at the same time. They are expected to be added gradually throughout 2027 as AMC’s existing licensing agreements with other services expire.

The Original Series Is Finally Coming to AMC+

Netflix has streamed the original Walking Dead series in the United States for nearly 15 years. Under the new agreement, Netflix will gain access to the franchise’s spinoffs, while AMC+ will finally be allowed to stream all 11 seasons of the original series.

Netflix licensing executive Lori Conkling said the original show continues to find new viewers on the platform. She added that the expanded partnership will make the complete franchise available to a much larger worldwide audience.

AMC Global Media CEO Kristin Dolan described the agreement as an opportunity to create one global streaming destination containing every show and episode in the franchise. She also emphasized that the deal will make The Walking Dead more accessible to longtime fans and new viewers.

The Walking Dead Franchise Continues to Expand

Although the franchise may no longer be at the height of the popularity it experienced during the original show’s peak, The Walking Dead remains an important part of AMC’s television business.

AMC continues to produce new seasons of its surviving spinoffs. The third season of The Walking Dead: Dead City, which follows Maggie and Negan, recently premiered and has earned stronger reactions from some viewers than its earlier seasons.

Beginning in 2027, viewers will be able to experience the entire television universe—from Rick Grimes’ original fight for survival to the continuing adventures of Daryl, Carol, Maggie, Negan, Michonne, and other familiar characters—on either Netflix or AMC+.
