Multiple Star Wars Games Announced By Jedi: Fallen Order Studio

Publisher Electronic Arts announced several new Star Wars games from developer Respawn Entertainment.

The upcoming games, which currently don't have official titles, will span a variety of different genres. Respawn Entertainment will play a key role in the development of each project, which includes a new first-person shooter, a real-time strategy game and a direct sequel to the critically acclaimed Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. "We are excited to continue working with the superbly talented developers at Respawn," said Douglas Reilly, VP, Lucasfilm Games. "They have demonstrated excellence in telling epic Star Wars stories along with best-in-class gameplay across different genres and we are looking forward to bringing more amazing experiences to the galaxy far, far away.

While Respawn Entertainment is actively developing both the first-person shooter and the next Star Wars Jedi game, the studio will only be producing the strategy game which will largely be built by Bit Reactor. The announcement is light of details, not mentioning anything specific regarding a release date for any of the games. While fans may be desperate for information, many will likely be satisfied that the rumors surrounding the impending announcement of another Star Wars Jedi were accurate.

"We are huge fans of Star Wars here at Respawn and we’re thrilled to work with Lucasfilm Games on new titles that we have wanted to make for years,” said Vince Zampella, Founder of Respawn Entertainment. “If you want to make great Star Wars games, you should come join us on our journey." The studio confirms that all three titles are in active development and that the team is currently staffing up.

While the shooter and strategy game may come as a surprise to many fans, the sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has been rumored for months. Reports suggested that the game would be announced in the lead-up to E3 2022 with an actual gameplay trailer debuting at this year's Star Wars Celebration. Many suspect that the sequel will ditch the subtitle of Fallen Order and use a new name altogether, a suspicion seemingly confirmed by the developer only ever referring to the series as Star Wars Jedi.

Electronic Arts and Respawn Entertainment have yet to announce solid release windows or platforms for any of their in-development projects.
