Marvel Studios dropped more promo art for the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, teasing Will Poulter’s transformation into Adam Warlock.
Shared on Reddit, the character poster gives fans a closer look at the BAFTA winner’s superhero costume, which prominently bears the fan-favorite Marvel character’s signature gold and red colors. It also spotlights Adam Warlock's cosmic powers with the art focusing on his flight ability and fist blasters. His long-awaited appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 marks the character’s live-action debut after more than five decades since Stan Lee and Jack Kirby first created him in 1967.
GotG director James Gunn previously explained the reason why Poulter won the role of Adam Warlock, revealing that the actor’s diverse performances made him the perfect candidate. "I wanted somebody who was youthful, and I wanted the person who had the dramatic chops and the comedic chops, not only for this movie but for what Marvel will use Adam Warlock for in the future."
Before joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Poulter appeared in popular film franchises such as The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader and The Maze Runner films, as well as in acclaimed movies like The Revenant and Midsommar. For his comedic performance in the 2013 film We’re the Millers, he won the BAFTA Rising Star Award. He also received critical acclaim for his role as Billy Cutler in the Hulu miniseries Dopesick, which earned him an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor.
What to Expect in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is written and directed by Gunn, rounding out his intergalactic trilogy. The upcoming third installment will feature the return of Marvel Cinematic Universe alums Chris Pratt as Peter Quill/ Star-Lord, Zoe Saldaña as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Karen Gillan as Nebula, and Pom Klementieff as Mantis, with Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel as the respective voices of Rocket and Groot. The titular superhero team was last seen in Disney+’s The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, where it was confirmed that Mantis and Star-Lord are actually half-siblings.
According to the threequel’s latest synopsis, the revelation of Rocket’s dark past with Chukwudi Iwuji’s High Evolutionary will lead the team to embark on "a dangerous mission to save Rocket’s life—a mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them." Gunn previously confirmed that he has always viewed Rocket as the trilogy’s secret protagonist, revealing that fans will finally get to see his traumatic past.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will arrive in theaters on May 5. Source: Reddit
