The new Moana is here. The two films have been massive successes for Disney, so it will now sail towards its live-action adaptation, which will star a different actress as the titular Disney Princess.
The Moana franchise kicked off in 2016 with the same-titled animated musical film. Auliʻi Cravalho voiced the character, who became the first Polynesian Disney princess. The original was a massive success, but it took Disney almost a decade to give it a sequel. Moana 2 came out in November 2024, bringing back the original cast.
However, for the upcoming live-action remake, which was announced before the sequel, Auliʻi Cravalho will not return to play the character. Instead, they cast Catherine Laga'aia for the role.
Disney also officially unveiled the first poster, which teases Moana's bond with the ocean at the same time as its teaser and official logo.
