Captain America: Brave New World Hires Moon Knight Writer To Pen New Scenes

Your Nerd Side Show ( Fonseca on vacation we are back 2024)

Per Deadline, Orton will work on material that will be filmed during additional photography scheduled for spring-summer 2024. Orton previously worked as a consulting producer and writer for the Disney+ series Moon Knight. Reshoots have become integral to every Marvel movie and are integrated into the studio's quality control production process. The duration can vary from as little as three days to more than two weeks.

Captain America: Brave New World sees Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson taking up the mantle of Captain America after Chris Evans' portrayal of Steve Rogers. While plot details are scarce, rumors suggest that Sam was benched following The Falcon and the Winter Soldier due to politics within the story. President Ross thinks Captain America is better suited for public relations, while Sam is convinced that his true purpose lies in active duty. Similar to the dynamics in the comics, the decisions made within the Oval Office will influence how Captain America protects his country.

Anthony Mackie Takes The Lead As Captain America

Brave New World will be the first time Mackie leads a Captain America film, with behind-the-scenes photos hinting at the MCU debut of the Serpent Society, an evil organization with a snake-themed motif featured in Captain America comics since 1985. The film is directed by Julius Onah, based on earlier scripts by Dalan Musson and Malcolm Spellman. The cast also includes Liv Tyler, Harrison Ford, Shira Haas, Rosa Salazar, Danny Ramirez, Carl Lumbly, and Tim Blake Nelson portraying Samuel Sterns/The Leader.

The Captain America franchise began in 2011 with Captain America: The First Avenger and continued with 2014's Captain America: Winter Soldier and 2016's Captain America: Civil War. These three films collectively grossed over $2.23 billion worldwide. Sam Wilson was introduced in Winter Soldier and appeared in 2015's Avengers: Age of Ultron and Ant-Man, Civil War, 2018's Avengers: Infinity War, and 2019's Avengers: Endgame.

Although their characters will be at odds in the film, Mackie has been overjoyed about working with Harrison Ford. "Harrison was the f–ing man, dude. I was surprised how light-hearted and easy he was, how excited he was to be a part of it." The actor also explained how Ford made him appreciate his time in the MCU. "For him to be in this profession for so many years and to see him at 80 excited to be a part of this universe was really dope, and it put things in perspective, how lucky I am to be a part of it."

Captain America: Brave New World will hit cinemas worldwide on Feb.14, 2025.
