Armor Wars' Don Cheadle Provides an Update on the Disney+ Series

Don Cheadle, the longtime performer of James "Rhodey" Rhodes/War Machine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, provided an update on his upcoming Disney+ TV series Armor Wars.

"It's gonna be interesting, y'know," Cheadle said to AP Entertainment. "We are just talking about what that show's gonna be. We'll probably start filming sometime next year. We're just cracking the story right now, y'know, what that journey's going to look like, what's Rhodey's, y'know, that iteration of that going to be."

"Obviously, people know Armor Wars, if they know Armor Wars," Cheadle continued. "They know what the series is about, but it's also kind of about figuring how to establish and dig really deep into who Rhodey is. Because we haven't really seen a lot of that in the movies."

Armor Wars originated as an Iron Man comic book storyline running across seven issues from December 1987 to June 1988. Written by David Michelinie and Bob Layton with art by Mark D. Bright and Barry Windsor-Smith, it revolved around Tony Stark facing off against several of his most iconic foes, like Justin Hammer, to ensure his technology would not be used for nefarious purposes. It is unknown how faithful if at all the Armor Wars TV show will be to its source material. Most other details about Armor Wars are being kept under wraps, though Cheadle has previously said the death of Tony will loom large over the series.

Armor Wars will star Don Cheadle and does not yet have a release date.
