The newest trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day may have quietly confirmed a major fan theory surrounding the film — or at least part of it.

Marvel fans have been analyzing every frame of the latest footage, and one detail has quickly stood out: the apparent presence of The Hand. The shadowy ninja organization has deep roots in Marvel Comics and has long been tied to characters like Daredevil, Elektra, and the Punisher. Now, it looks like Tom Holland’s Spider-Man may be pulled into their dangerous world.

Who Are The Hand?

The Hand first appeared in Daredevil #174 in 1981, created during Frank Miller’s legendary run on the character. In the comics, The Hand is an ancient ninja cult known for violence, secrecy, resurrection, and loyalty to a demonic force known as The Beast.

While the group is most closely connected to Daredevil and Elektra, The Hand has crossed paths with many major Marvel heroes over the years. Spider-Man is no exception, especially since Peter Parker has often operated in the same street-level corner of Marvel as Daredevil.

That connection makes their possible appearance in Spider-Man: Brand New Day especially exciting. It suggests the film may lean into a darker, more grounded Marvel story, one that could bring Spider-Man closer to the world of vigilantes, assassins, and organized crime.

What Do The Hand Want With Spider-Man?

At this point, Marvel has not officially revealed what role The Hand will play in the movie. However, their presence raises some big questions.

Are they hunting Peter Parker directly? Are they after someone close to him? Or is Spider-Man simply getting caught in the middle of a much larger conflict?

The trailer seems to suggest that Peter will eventually face off against members of The Hand, but the bigger mystery may involve another character entirely: Frank Castle, better known as the Punisher.

Why This Could Be Huge for the Punisher

Rumors about The Hand appearing in Spider-Man: Brand New Day have been circulating for some time. One popular theory suggested that their role in the movie could connect to Jon Bernthal’s Punisher.

At first, The Hand and the Punisher might seem like natural enemies. Frank Castle is a brutal antihero who wages war on criminals, while The Hand is a supernatural criminal cult. But recent Marvel Comics stories have brought the two closer together in a major way.

In Jason Aaron’s 2022 Punisher run, Frank Castle actually becomes the leader of The Hand. The story reveals that the group sees Frank as something more than a warrior. They want to use him as a vessel for The Beast, turning the Punisher into a weapon for their own dark mission.

That storyline gave the Punisher one of his most controversial and dramatic comic book arcs in years. If Spider-Man: Brand New Day borrows even a small piece of that idea, it could give Frank Castle a much larger role in the MCU moving forward.

Will Marvel Adapt the Comic Story?

Of course, Marvel Studios may choose a different path. The MCU version of The Hand already exists because of the Netflix-era Daredevil and Defenders shows. That history could influence how the group is used in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Instead of trying to recruit or control the Punisher, The Hand may simply view him as a threat. They could also be targeting Daredevil, Spider-Man, or another street-level hero entirely.

Either way, their presence is a major signal that Spider-Man: Brand New Day may not be just another Spider-Man adventure. It could be the movie that fully pulls Peter Parker into the darker, more dangerous side of the MCU.

For fans of Spider-Man, Daredevil, and the Punisher, that possibility is a big deal. The Hand’s arrival could mean more than just another villain group. It could be the beginning of a larger street-level Marvel storyline with Spider-Man right at the center.
