A brand-new Stranger Things game is coming this Summer, and it is unlike anything the franchise has seen before.

Developer and publisher Raw Thrills has officially unveiled their next title, Stranger Things Arcade, and it looks to be precisely the kind of gaming experience that fans didn't know they needed. While Stranger Things Arcade isn't slated to be officially released until later this year, the game began showing up at various Dave & Buster's locations across North America shortly after being teased by the developer.

Stranger Things Arcade Takes Fans Back to Hawkins

Rather than playing out like an ordinary arcade shooter, Stranger Things Arcade is a ball-toss game that plays out on an oversized video screen using Raw Thrill's proprietary Thrill-Scan ball sensing system. Up to four players can play at once across two teams, and will traverse both Hawkins and the Upside-Down as they take on Stranger Things' biggest and worst threats.

The official game description from Raw Thrills reads, "Stranger Things Arcade is an electrifying new arcade game for 1-4 players from Raw Thrills, inspired by the hit Netflix series, Stranger Things. We are turning arcades upside down with this new arcade game. This family-friendly masterpiece invites players of all ages to battle Demogorgons, Demobats, Demodogs, and Vecna himself, in a high-energy, ball-throwing quest featuring the show’s iconic characters, locations, and haunting soundtrack."

The official game description continues, "Engineered for maximum uptime, the cabinet boasts the proprietary Thrill-Scan ball sensing system for pinpoint accuracy. Hang out with the gang in Hawkins!"

Standing at just under ten feet tall and nearly eight feet wide, Stranger Things Arcade is by far the biggest Stranger Things gaming experience that most fans have ever seen. Orders for Stranger Things Arcade are currently open via various distributors.

While Stranger Things came to a close with its Season 5 finale, fans still have plenty more of their favorite franchise to look forward to, and not just in the world of arcade games. In April, an animated spinoff series, Stranger Things: Tales from '85, was released on Netflix, much to the delight of audiences. Set between Season 2 and Season 3 of the original series, Stranger Things: Tales from '85 charts entirely new territory with a previously untold story revolving around a threat unlike any fans have seen before.

Upon its release, Stranger Things: Tales from '85 was met with decidedly divisive reviews from both critics and audiences. As of the time of writing, Stranger Things: Tales from '85 holds a mere 54% audience-generated "Popcornmeter" score via review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, whereas critics have helped it amass a 62% "Fresh" rating on the platform. Despite the middling response to the series, Season 2 of Stranger Things: Tales from '85 is still expected to premiere late this year.
