The Acolyte Prequel Series Explores the History of the High Republic
The character of Kelnacca first appeared in the Disney+ series The Acolyte as a Wookiee Jedi Master who sequestered himself in the jungles of Khofar. Kelnacca leads a solitary life during the events of The Acolyte, and Marvel's new prequel comic will give fans the chance to learn more about the character's history by stepping into the world of the High Republic. The one-shot comic also includes an exclusive interview with Joonas Suotamo, the actor who portrayed Kelnacca in The Acolyte series.
The Acolyte premiered June 4 on Disney+ as part of the Star Wars universe. Set at the end of the High Republic era and before the events of the Skywalker Saga, the series chronicles a respected Jedi Master as he investigates a series of crimes that eventually uncover sinister forces at work. Critical reception of the show has been largely positive, despite some fans criticizing the series for its depiction of Star Wars' legendary Jedi.
