Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the most celebrated open-world games of all time, with fans still playing it 8 years after it released, and enjoying all the new DLC content that continues to be added to the game. Now, players can score new limited-time clothing during RDR2's Naturalist event, which gives players the chance to grab all kinds of bonuses.
The event is running throughout May, and from May 26 to June 1, Red Dead Redemption fans can participate in Target Races and the Capture Series. They'll also have the chance to grab the Black Morning Tail Coat, an item that belongs in any outlaw's wardrobe.
Red Dead Redemption 2 Has a Major Event This Month

As detailed on Rockstar's website, from now until June 1, 2026, each week will have its own limited-time challenge, with exclusive cosmetic rewards going to those who complete them. The current installment of the Naturalist event is a Race Series where players can earn Triple Rewards and 2 Gold Bars, but there's much more on the way.
From May 12 to 18, players who complete 3 Daily Challenges can get 50% off an Established or Distinguished Naturalist Role Item. Winning in the featured series between May 19 and 25 will earn players a free emote, and for the rest of the month, they can earn the black Morning Tail Coat by selling three samples.
There are also more rewards to look forward to this month, with a completely free community-inspired outfit that all players can get from the Wheeler, Rawson & Co. Catalogue, no strings attached. This outfit includes a Western Homburg Hat and a Padded Saddle Work Pants, with unique clothing options available for male and female characters.
RDR2 Has Kept People Playing for Nearly a Decade

Even though Red Dead Redemption 2 was released all the way back in 2018, it's held onto its audience and has actually become more popular over time. The game even broke its player count record in February 2025, with 86,717 people logging in to play the game.
Of course, while RDR2 has kept Rockstar fans busy, the wait for the studio's next game has started to get intense. At this point, fans have been waiting for over a decade for Grand Theft Auto VI. Barring more delays, the game should finally arrive on its scheduled November 19 release date, but even that feels like an eternity.
Hopefully, the continuous updates to Red Dead Redemption 2 will make that brutal wait a little easier. The Naturalist event will end on June 1, but more events are on the way, so RDR2 will always have the chance to log back into the game and get some free items.
