Marvel's First Family Gets Bigger as Fantastic Four Introduces Reed Richards' Sister

This summer, Marvel's First Family gets a new member.

As part of its July 2022 solicitations, Marvel Comics has revealed Fantastic Four #46, which promises to introduce the long-lost sister of Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic. The issue comes from the team of writer Dan Slott and artist CAFU. It features a main cover by CAFU, as well as a variant cover by Stormbreakers artist R.B. Silva and a Predator-themed variant by Superlog.

CAFU's cover art sees Reed Richards, the patriarch of the Fantastic Four, quite literally extending a hand to his sister, whose own hands are visible. "Not a dream. Not a hoax. This is real," the solicitation text reads. "Thanks to the knowledge of the Watchers, the lost daughter of Nathaniel Richards has been found. It's time to finally meet the mysterious sister of Reed Richards. But is it time to welcome her into the family?" Additionally, Fantastic Four #46 features a guest appearance by Namor, aka the Sub-Mariner, who has his own history with Marvel's First Family.

  • STORMBREAKERS VARIANT COVER BY R.B. SILVA

  • “Family First”!

  • Not a dream. Not a hoax. This is real.

  • Thanks to the knowledge of the Watchers, the lost daughter of Nathaniel Richards has been found.

  • It's time to finally meet the mysterious sister of Reed Richards.

  • But is it time to welcome her into the family?

  • It's a day of amazing adventures both in her world, and in the world of the Fantastic Four.

  • Guest-starring Namor, King of Atlantis.

  • 32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99

The idea of Nathaniel Richards having children other than Reed isn't exactly new. For starters, there's Nathaniel and Cassandra Richards' unnamed son, who is Reed's half-brother (Reed's birth mother is Evelyn Richards). Nathaniel and Cassandra also had a daughter, Tara Richards/Huntara, Reed's half-sister. Finally, there's Kristoff Vernard, who is the alleged son of Nathaniel and half-brother of Reed, as well as the adoptive son of Victor von Doom/Doctor Doom. Nevertheless, Reed's new sister joining the fray is a fairly major development for the Fantastic Four, to say the very least.

Written by Dan Slott and illustrated by CAFU, Fantastic Four #46 goes on sale July 13 from Marvel Comics.
