James Gunn Keeps Peacemaker Season 3 Hopes Alive

James Gunn has finally responded to the growing speculation surrounding Peacemaker Season 3, although his answer may have created even more questions for DC fans.

When a fan recently asked Gunn on Threads whether there was any chance of a third season, the DC Studios co-head didn’t give a yes or no. Instead, he replied with a simple thinking-face emoji.

That certainly isn’t confirmation, but it also isn’t a rejection. For fans hoping to see John Cena return as Christopher Smith, Gunn’s response is enough to keep the possibility of another season alive.

The Cast Is Ready to Return

While DC Studios has not officially announced a third season of Peacemaker, several members of the cast have already made it clear that they would be interested in coming back.

Jennifer Holland, who plays Emilia Harcourt, has said she is staying prepared in case she gets the call. Holland explained that she continues to keep herself in shape during the downtime because she would love the opportunity to play Harcourt again.

John Cena has expressed similar enthusiasm.

When asked about the future of Peacemaker, Cena said he didn’t want to speculate about James Gunn’s plans for the larger DC Universe. He made it clear that Gunn is the person who knows where the character fits into the future of the franchise.

Still, Cena added that he hopes he gets the chance to put the Peacemaker helmet back on — and maybe even break out another opening-credit dance.

What Happened to the Waller Spinoff?

At one point, DC Studios was also developing a series centered around Amanda Waller, with Viola Davis expected to reprise the role.

The project was originally designed to help connect the events of the first and second seasons of Peacemaker. However, development delays changed those plans, and Peacemaker Season 2 ultimately moved forward first.

The planned Waller series was later reported to have been scrapped.

Another DC project, Paradise Lost, which was intended to explore Themyscira before the birth of Wonder Woman, was also reportedly shelved.

With those projects no longer moving forward, attention has naturally returned to the possibility of Peacemaker Season 3.

For now, nothing has been officially confirmed.

But James Gunn’s mysterious response — combined with the enthusiasm of John Cena and Jennifer Holland — means fans probably shouldn’t count Peacemaker out just yet.
