If not Canada Day, it might be safe to assume that Deadpool's favorite holiday is April Fool's Day, given the Marvel character's penchant for channeling humor into literally everything he does. Appropriately, there is a special occasion related to the Merc with a Mouth on this day, and fans can be assured it is not a prank.

In partnership with Marvel, Topps is releasing a new set of collectible trading cards all about none other than Deadpool.

As reported by ScreenRant, the set particularly shines a spotlight on the enduringly popular, anti-heroic comic book character's legacy on the big screen. Each pack of cards includes scene inserts from Deadpool's cinematic greatest hits, which means fans can probably expect not to find any references to his controversial appearance in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which sewed up his mouth, gave him laser vision, and equipped his arms with retractable blades.

However, fans certainly can expect to find cards highlighting key moments from later appearances by fellow Canadian Ryan Reynolds as the merc (properly with a mouth). Those include Deadpool's 2016 self-titled solo film, the 2018 follow-up, Deadpool 2, and Reynolds and Hugh Jackman's Marvel Cinematic Universe debuts in Deadpool & Wolverine from 2024.

Topps' Deadpool also includes cards featuring many of said films' memorable supporting characters. For instance, comedian Rob Delaney's suburban dad-turned-X-Force member, Peter, who first appeared in Deadpool 2, makes an appearance in the deck, as does Time Variance Authority head B-15, whom Loki star and Oscar nominee Wunmi Mosaku reprised in Deadpool & Wolverine.

The 100-card set even includes a few Autograph Issue cards, limited in supply. There is a card bearing the image of X-23 from Deadpool & Wolverine, signed by Dafne Keen herself, and another of Deadpool 2's Cable that is complemented by Academy Award nominee Josh Brolin's signature.

Topps' Deadpool Trading Cards Come Just In Time For The Character's Anniversary

Topps' release of its own line of Deadpool-inspired collectible trading card sets is not just a perfect way to celebrate April Fool's Day in 2026. This year also marks a special milestone for the iconic character himself.

February marked the 35th anniversary of when writer and artist Rob Liefeld and co-writer Fabian Nicieza first introduced Deadpool to Marvel Comics with the character's debut appearance in The New Mutants #98, which has a cover date of Feb. 11, 1991. Of course, the way Wade Wilson is depicted in that story is a far cry from his modern, definitive portrayal.

As many avid comic book historians should be aware, Deadpool was originally conceived as a parody of Deathstroke, a popular DC Comics villain, otherwise known as Slade Wilson, who also dons a mouthless mask and specializes in using pistols and samurai swords in combat. The key to the joke was giving Deadpool an overly earnest disposition similar to the assassin that Liefeld and Nicieza exaggerated to a hilariously over-the-top degree.

However, by the time Deadpool earned his own self-titled Marvel series six years later, he had evolved into the quip-spewing, fourth-wall-breaking cross between Ryan Reynolds and a Shar Pei that the world knows him as. In fact, his silly self-awareness and penchant for rebelling against anything and everything that traditional comic book storytelling stands for is why he is regarded as one of the most beloved superhero characters in the world.

Following his popular team-up with Batman in 2025 with the two-part crossover, Deadpool/Batman and Batman/Deadpool, 2026 is shaping up to be another big year for Wade Wilson beyond his new trading card collection. February saw the debut of the new Marvel Comics series, Wade Wilson: Deadpool, and, although it is not confirmed, reports have suggested that Ryan Reynolds might appear in Avengers: Doomsday in the old red and blacks.

The Topps Chrome Marvel Deadpool Trading Card Set is now available for purchase.
