Aaron Taylor-Johnson Is Reportedly The Next James Bond

Your Nerd Side with Fonseca latest Show:

Aaron Taylor-Johnson has reportedly been offered the highly coveted James Bond role.

"Bond is Aaron's job, should he wish to accept it. The formal offer is on the table, and [the studio] is waiting to hear back," a source familiar with casting told The Sun UK. "As far as Eon [Productions] is concerned, Aaron is going to sign his contract in the coming days, and they can start preparing for the big announcement," the source continued.

"Aaron may not be the best known in his field, but he is an incredibly talented actor," the source continued. "His role in Nocturnal Animals showed his depth as an actor. He is the perfect person to play Bond and will pick up well from where Daniel left off." Although production on the new James Bond movie had been delayed due to the Hollywood strikes, insiders say a script is currently being worked on. Filming is scheduled to take place at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire later this year.

The Search For A New James Bond Has Been Ongoing

The news comes just over a month after James Bond film series producer Barbara Broccoli addressed speculation about whether the reboot was in the works. "There's nothing I can tell you about the next Bond film... There's nothing. Nothing is happening yet,"she told the media at a British Film Institute (BFI) Fellowship event when asked about the future of 007. Broccoli has consistently suggested that the franchise needs to be reinvented before new films can be made.

The James Bond series has been looking for someone to take over the role of the iconic secret agent ever since Daniel Craig's final appearance as 007 in the 2021 film No Time to Die. The era led by Craig produced some of the franchise's most acclaimed movies, such as Casino Royale and Skyfall, which many fans regard as the best film in the series. Since Craig's departure, various names have been suggested as potential successors.

Among them was Henry Cavill, who previously auditioned for the role in Casino Royale but lost out to Craig. Other contenders were Daredevil: Born Again actor Charlie Cox, Secret Invasion's Kingsley Ben-Adir, Oscar-winner Cillian Murphy, Idris Elba, and James Norton. Taylor-Johnson has also been in the running to play James Bond after he reportedly screen-tested for Broccoli in secret at Pinewood Studios in 2022.

Taylor-Johnson, hailing from High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, gained recognition through his roles in the Kick-Ass and Marvel film franchises. He began acting in the 2000 film The Apocalypse, where he starred alongside Richard Harris. He also appeared in the 2008 teen flick Angus, Thongs And Perfect Snogging, and the 2022 action film Bullet Train alongside Brad Pitt.

The new James Bond movie has yet to be given a release date.
