Sometimes, they actually listen. One thing has been true of Marvel Studios, and that’s the fact they’ve kept their ear to the streets recently and listened to the demands of fans instead of holding firm to whatever their previous plan for a project might’ve been — the latest example of this being Marvel Zombies.
The series was as spectacular as it was a bloody, a trek down the R-rated path rarely ever taken by Marvel Studios. And don’t let the lukewarm reviews on Rotten Tomatoes fool you (67 percent average rating). It even made the king of horror, Stephen King, eat crow.
Marvel Zombies was a certified smash hit for Disney+ streaming numbers and, after teasing a Season 2 earlier this year, the head honcho at Marvel confirmed the best possible news: not only will there be a Season 2, but it’s already in production and full speed ahead.
"I don't think this is a spoiler, but I saw the first animatic of the first episode of Marvel Zombies Season 2 this morning. It was crazy," teased Brad Winderbaum, the head of Marvel TV and animation, to The Escape Pod.
Marvel Zombies Season 2 Is In Production ... With An MCU Surprise
The Scarlet Witch and her Zombie Avengers are back, and if Ironheart’s (Riri Williams) can’t help Kamala Khan escape the WandaVision-esque false reality to finally defeat her following what she did to Inifinity Hulk (and the others) to become omnipotent, all will truly be lost.
Better still is Winderbaum says Marvel is about to use Marvel Zombies to pull off something never-before-seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe: “I can't say anything about it, but it delivers not just on zombies, but also on an MCU thing that has never really happened before that we're very excited to do."
Prior to the debut of Marvel Zombies on Disney+ in September 2025, the plan was to give the world a four-shot dose of the series — originally a two-hour movie broken up into four episodes — and that was it, that was all. That made sense at the time, given there was no way to truly know how fans would react to a horror-based Marvel animated series.
The hard pivot toward green lighting a second season was the right thing to do, though director Bryan Andrews claims they were never truly dug in to leaving Marvel Zombies as a four-shot.
When Will Season 2 of Marvel Zombies Arrive?

Given the remaining Marvel calendar for 2026, don't plan on Season 2 of Marvel Zombies arriving prior to 2027.
"We always knew it was going to be this,” he said. “The question was how much to show at the end of the bleakness. At first, we had a version that was really subtle, but when we were putting it up on reels and getting editor feedback, they said, 'Hey, maybe go for it a little bit more, so people feel more of a gut punch.'
