REPORT: Margot Robbie Has Been Offered a Major MCU Role

This article covers a developing story. Continue to check back with us as we will be adding more information as it becomes available.

A report from reliable Marvel Cinematic Universe news scooper, Daniel Richtman, reveals that Marvel Studios has made an offer to Academy Award-nominated actor, Margot Robbie, to play Sue Storm, the Invisible Woman, in the upcoming Fantastic Four movie. If Robbie accepts the deal, she'll become one of the more notable examples of an actor starring in both a Marvel and DC film, as Robbie has been the Harley Quinn of the DC Extended Universe since 2016's Suicide Squad.

Who else has Marvel Studios been rumored to be interested in for Sue Storm?

One of the problems with the rumors about the castings in the Fantastic Four is the fact that the film changed directors and screenwriters, and thus the previous director, Jon Watts, might have had different actors in mind for the characters than the current decision-makers regarding the film, including its current director, Matt Shakman. For instance, all the way back in 2021, Jennifer Lawrence was rumored to be in the lead for Sue Storm, but that was before the film's production was delayed with the departure of Watts, the hiring of Shakman and the change at screenwriter, with Avatar: The Way of Water writer Josh Friedman taking over from Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer on script duties for the film. More recently, Mila Kunis debunked reports that she was being considered for Sue Storm (and perhaps even The Thing!).

Sue Storm's co-lead in the film, Reed Richard, has also seen a number of actors rumored to be getting the role, with the most recent rumblings centering on Adam Driver being in final talks for the role.

Who is rumored to have been cast as Sue Storm's brother?

Recently, Daniel Richtman also revealed that Marvel Studios has apparently offered the role of Sue Storm's younger brother, Johnny Storm (the Human Torch), to another Academy Award-nominated actor, Paul Mescal, who is quite appropriate for Human Torch, as he is red-hot in the industry right now, with his starring role in the upcoming Gladiator sequel.

It is worth noting that Driver has also been nominated for an Academy Award, suggesting that perhaps Marvel Studios is leaning towards the prestige film industry for the cast for this next, major film property in the Marvel CInematic Universe.

Fantastic Four is currently scheduled to be released on Feb. 14, 2025.
