Hellboy and the B.P.R.D.: 1957 -- Fearful Symmetry comes from writers Mike Mignola and Chris Roberson, artist Alison Sampson, colorer Dave Stewart and letterer Clem Robins. In a CBR exclusive preview of the one-shot, Hellboy is sent to India on an urgent mission after reports of a dangerous new monster begin to arise. While there, he reunites with Virginia "Ginny" Payne, a character who first appeared in a short story written by Roberson titled "The Other Side of Summer," which was collected in 2017's Hellboy: An Assortment of Horrors.

After reuniting with Ginny, the two set off for the village where the monster had previously been spotted. "The authorities think that the string of deaths outside of Jabalpur are the work of wild tigers," Ginny explains. "But attacks like that would be isolated cases, not the kinds of numbers we're seeing. The few villagers who witnessed the attacks and survived didn't get a good enough look to say for sure, but say that it seemed like a tiger. All of them agree on one thing...whatever it was, it walked on two legs, not four." Later that night, Hellboy asks if it's possible they're searching for a werewolf-like creature called "were-tiger," which Ginny says could be entirely possible. "There are native beliefs that a person could use sorcery to transform themselves into a tiger. So, assuming that's true...possible? I've got to admit, I'm a little out of my depth here, Hellboy."
